She met a young family forced to share one room for mother father child and baby.

The factories were closing down and laying off people.

The sugar factory was running at 20% of it's capacity - Sugar was hard to find on the shelves of the markets.
Lots of people were out of work - (people from all classes and levels of education). She didn't get it.

At the market, she saw the people watching their denars carefully for every loaf of bread - especially the retired pensjoneri.

Her dollars felt obscene.
