lol, good question. I don't think they would take offense to it. just because you lock your door doesn't mean you locked it to prevent your guests from coming inside. I'm sure they are aware that you're doing it for safety reasons and not to be rude. just make sure when your guest walk out the door, that they are leaving for good. they might be offended if you lock the door when they leave for a smoke or to get something from their car.

I'd say no. It's still a dangerous world out there. I always lock my door.

No.. I do it all the time, especially if it's late. Closing up shop isn't rude. I do usually leave the light on for them until they are gone though.

IT is to a certain extent. IF you have a family or they know your going to go to bed. its understandable.

Not at all. If heard by the guest they would just know that you are being safe. Not that you are making sure they cannot reeenter your home - even if that were true.

No it is not impolite. Most people now a days keep their doors locked and if you didn't do it right then, you might forget. It is a safety thing. However, I will say, I usually stand at my door until my guests are really too far away to hear a lock, I wait until they are at least at the gate to the street, if not walking them that far.

i dont think its impolite..of course they expect u to lock ur door. however....it may cause them to feel "alone" like wat if they happened to get attacked on the way to the car...ur door is already locked, so its like..to hell with u im goin to bed. ..

if its someone u really care about u should leave the door open til ur guest atleast gets in the car safely. if not then just close it n lock it..its not impolite..its whats expected

    it is not impolite.
we often keep the door locked once our guests arrive. part of it is more about the safety of our three-yr-old but another is our safety period. Our doors are typically always locked.
it is safer in our small town than most but after living in the bigger cities and as more and more home invasions happen we are very careful.
typically we walk our guests out or at least one of us watches from the porch depending on time of day until they are safely in their car.

Not if you live in a dangerous area, but it would be polite to wait and see if they get in their vehicle safely and lock the door.

I think so. I always wait until my guest(s) are out of sight before I lock the door. It only takes 10-15 more seconds. I want to know they're safely on their way.

I don't know how or why you even thought this could possibly be construed as being rude. In any case, no, it is not impolite. Relax.
