In Conversation was installed in Amsterdam from 29th May to 14th June 1998 as part of the Avatar exhibition in De Oude Kerk (the old church).
This version was made especially for De Oude Kerk and its surroundings,
the Amsterdam red light district. In the evenings the projection of the
mouth appeared on the Oudezijds Voorburgwal (the street outside overlooking
the canal). During the day, it appeared in De Oude Kerk itself, for the
visitors to the Avatar
exhibition.
Visitors to the website could communicate through In Conversation
daily from 11.00 am to 5.00 pm (local time) to the Oude Kerk (inside)
and from 11.00pm to 5.00 am (local time) to Oudezijds Voorburgwal (the
street).
